This whole thing, especially the last bit, makes me sick. I hate the WTBTS.

I am still going through a situation that has a slight similarity to this... There was no abuse that I know of, but my sister was neglecting her daughter very badly. We all finally stepped in and tried to save her. We should have gotten better advice because we failed to ensure my niece's well-being. I now have no contact with my sister or niece. It sucks, it really does, but now at least I know that I tried. We involved the courts, the police and the child protective people...
I would probobly do it again anyway, maybe with more planning and evidence gathering. My nice is not safe, but if my sis screws up again, and she will, there is now a nice big file on her in several official places.
Best of luck and bright blessings to you Country Girl.

Today Sucks!
by pettygrudger inafter 16 beautiful days off with my children, sleeping in late, actually making family breakfest and all the other wonderfully "mommy" things to do without rushing - i'm back at work (bluck!!!!
) and the kids are back to school so the rushing begins again.
regardless of how people feel about christmas, i find that 2 week period of time my highlight of the entire year.

My older 2 kids are with their dad half the time. Every single day I get them is a school day, well, a week day. So I absolutely treasure every vacation, holiday, snowday! I am right there with you, Pettygrudger! I love the absense of all the rush! It's one of the reasons i keep considering homeschooling.

Mom just bought life insurance
by La Capra inrecent bizarre family events have led my mom a 35-year witness (she's in her mid 60s) and my dad, the unbelieving mate (he's in his early 70s) to consider putting their "affairs in order".
neither are ill in any way, but my mom's mother is not doing too well, leaving her care to be managed by my mother.. .
when grandma's husband died awhile back, the affairs were not prepared adequately, leaving a lot of headaches for those of us required to handle things.

Wow LaCapra,
that is amazing! I really love it that your mom picked you out as the beneficiary because you are the one who won't fall apart and will be fair. She must be very clear sighted for a jw. Wonders never cease.

I do not need shoes. I only buy new ones when my old ones fall apart. What I need are BOOKS! Lots and lots of books, in all colors and sizes! Just back the truck up to my house and dump them right through the door... but please don't bring me shoes.

Ways "THEY" Controlled You
by minimus in"they" refers to the watchtower society, the elders, the brothers and sisters, etc.
when you look at how much control has been exerted over us over the years, you can't help but be amazed.
for example, if we had a major snowstorm in the area and the entire state was told by the governor to "please not go out", unless the call was made by the elders, the meeting was still on and you were expected to attend.

I was always being approached by elders wives and counseled about my clothes and hair and make-up. I am a pretty attractive woman, so I am told, by the time I was done following all their rules I was dressed dowdier than any grandmother... I noticed lots of other women wearing clothes that were like the ones I got counseled on and they were left in peace. WTF? I knew a woman in another hall that was also constantly counselled while others were left alone... What is with that?

If YOUR Child Was A Pedophile, What Would You Do?
by minimus inwe have shown an abhorrence to pedophiles, and rightfully so, but how would you view pedophilia if your own son or daughter was either a known pedophile or displayed abnormal feelings for children?

My heart would be broken into a million pieces if one of my kids grew up to molest children. My babies are my babies and I will love them no matter what. That said, I would never allow them to hurt anyone. I would do absolutely everything in my power to prevent them from hurting children. I would turn them over to the police, testify against them etc. I would also do everything I could to get my child whatever help I could. I would never stop being their mommy who loves them.
How could I tear the heart from my body and still live?

Ouch. I am so sorry. It absolutely kills me when adults act far more childishly than most children. What jerks! They are the unworthy ones! Your kids are so dear, so precious. My kids are pretty sensitive too. I have one side of my family that shuns me... they aren't even JW!!! My six year old had assumed they were dead! He asked when was he going to see them since they were alive after all... hmmmmm... considering my father molested me and his parents shut mee out COLD after I left my ex... I don't think that is going to happen.
Hug your babies for me, hugs to you and Wild Turkey too.

Survey about Depression & Therapy
by ESTEE ini would really like to hear your opinion on this topic:.
you know how the jws look down their nose on a person who falls into depression?
i am curious how many people here think that if you have been in therapy that you are emotionally weak.

I think seeking therapy is something that takes guts, for most people. They are in therapy to face their issues and heal.
For some rare few therapy is a huge cop out, a way to avoid responsibility and get sympathy and even drugs while blaming every problem in their lives on ANYONE else.
Therapy worked for me. I did individual and group and did a lot of work myself guided by self-help workbooks and my tarot reader. (scoff if you will, it helped me tremendously) But I have seen people close to me use therapy to stagnate, to wallow in their pain and refuse to move on.
Still, I think therapy embarked upon for the right reasons can make a huge difference, it depends on whether the person is really their ready to face their issues and WORK on themselves.
